Most Common Error Codes & Issues (All Models)

• “No Paper” or paper jam: Fan paper stack; clean pickup rollers with alcohol; check rear/manual feed for debris.
• “Replace Toner” or low ink warning: Reset toner counter (varies by model); use genuine Brother supplies for best results.
• Print quality issues (streaks, faded): Run cleaning cycle from control panel; clean corona wire (laser) or print head (inkjet).
• Offline / not printing from computer: Reinstall driver; set as default printer; check USB/Wi-Fi connection; restart spooler.
• “Deep Sleep” or no response: Press any button; disable Deep Sleep in settings; check power cable.
• Wi-Fi connection lost: Re-setup wireless via control panel or Brother iPrint&Scan app; ensure 2.4 GHz band.

Inkjet Specific Issues

• “Cannot Detect Ink”: Remove and reinsert cartridges firmly; clean gold contacts with soft cloth; run cleaning multiple times.
• Ink absorber full (Error 46/4F): Reset absorber counter (enter maintenance mode: Menu → * → 2 → 8 → 6 → 4); or replace pad.

Laser Specific Issues

• Drum error: Slide green tab on drum unit left/right several times; replace drum if end of life.
• Fuser error / overheating: Unplug 30 min to cool; ensure proper ventilation.

Safety note: Always unplug before cleaning internal parts or removing jams. Do not touch hot fuser unit. Use caution with toner powder.
