Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on clean, stable surface near computer.

  1. Install label roll: Open cover, insert roll with label facing outward, close cover.
  2. Connect power: Plug AC adapter into printer and wall outlet.
  3. Connect to computer: Use USB cable to connect printer to computer USB port.
  4. Install software: Insert CD or download drivers from Brother website.

WARNING! Use only Brother-approved AC adapter and label rolls. Do not touch print head; it may be hot.

First-Time Setup

Power on printer; install software and configure settings.

  1. Install drivers: Run setup from CD or downloaded file; follow on-screen instructions.
  2. Set default printer: In computer settings, set QL-800 as default if desired.

Printing Labels

  1. Design label: Use P-touch Editor to create text, add symbols, frames, barcodes.
  2. Print: Select File > Print; choose QL-800 printer.
  3. Adjust settings: Set label size, quantity, print density in print dialog.
  4. Feed/Cut: Labels feed automatically; auto-cut option available.
  5. Manual feed: Press FEED button to advance label without printing.

WARNING! Do not pull labels during printing; allow auto-cut mechanism to work.

Software Features

P-touch Editor Lite: Create and edit labels with various fonts, sizes, styles, frames, symbols, and barcodes (Code 39, UPC, etc.). Templates: Pre-designed layouts for address, file folder, shipping labels. Database import: Import data from CSV files for batch printing.

Care & Maintenance

Unplug before cleaning. Use dry, lint-free cloth to clean exterior. Clean print head with approved cleaning pen if print quality degrades. Replace label roll when low.

CAUTION! Do not use alcohol or solvents on print head. Keep labels away from direct sunlight and heat.
