Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on stable, level surface near power outlet.

  1. Install toner cartridge: Open front cover, remove packaging, insert cartridge until it clicks.
  2. Load paper: Adjust paper guides in tray, load up to 150 sheets of plain paper.
  3. Connect power: Plug power cord into device and wall outlet.
  4. Connect to computer: Use USB cable to connect device to computer USB port.

WARNING! Do not touch the green drum surface of the toner cartridge. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight or high humidity.

Printing Operations

Copying Operations

Standalone copying without computer.

  1. Place original face down on scanner glass or face up in ADF (if equipped).
  2. Use numeric keypad to enter number of copies (1-99).
  3. Adjust settings: Darkness (Light/Dark), Reduce/Enlarge (50-200%), Paper size.
  4. Press Start; device scans and prints copies.
  5. Press Stop to cancel during operation.

Note: For multiple copies, device scans once then prints requested quantity.

Scanning Operations

Scan to computer using installed driver software.

  1. Place original on scanner glass.
  2. Launch scanning software (ControlCenter, Windows Fax and Scan, etc.).
  3. Select scan settings: Color mode, resolution, file format (PDF, JPEG, etc.), destination.
  4. Click Scan; image is sent to computer.
  5. For quick scan, some software allows one-touch scanning via device button.

Tip: Higher resolution increases file size and scan time. Use 300 dpi for documents, 600 dpi for photos.

Maintenance & Care

Unplug device before cleaning.

  1. Exterior: Wipe with soft, dry cloth. For stubborn stains, dampen cloth with water only.
  2. Scanner glass: Clean with soft, lint-free cloth and glass cleaner. Avoid spraying directly on glass.
  3. Paper path: Remove paper jams carefully following guide in manual.
  4. Toner replacement: Replace when toner low indicator appears. Use Brother TN-360 cartridge.

CAUTION! Do not use alcohol, ammonia, or abrasive cleaners. Do not touch the transfer roller or drum.

Driver & Software

Required for full functionality with computer.

Note: For network sharing, install driver on each computer or use Windows printer sharing.
