Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on stable, level surface near power outlet and network connection.

  1. Install ink cartridges: Open front cover, remove protective tape from cartridges, insert into correct slots until they click.
  2. Load paper: Adjust paper guides in tray, load plain paper face down.
  3. Connect power: Plug power cord into printer and wall outlet.
  4. Turn on printer: Press POWER button; LCD will initialize.
  5. Install software: Insert CD or download drivers from Brother website; follow on-screen instructions.
  6. Connect to computer: Use USB cable or configure network connection.

WARNING! Do not touch ink nozzles or electrical contacts on cartridges. Keep printer away from heat sources and moisture.

    • Manual setup: Use LCD to select SSID and enter password.
  3. Install network software on computer to detect printer.

Tip: Ensure router is on and printer is within range for wireless. Use Brother software for easy setup.

Printing Documents

From computer or mobile device.

  1. Ensure printer is on and connected.
  2. Open document, select Print.
  3. Choose Brother MFC-665CW as printer.
  4. Set preferences: Paper size, orientation, quality (Draft/Normal/High), color vs. black & white, duplex.
  5. Click Print.
  6. For photo printing: Use photo paper, select appropriate media type in settings.

Quick Copy: Press COPY then Start without settings for default copy.

Scanning Documents

To computer or network folder.

  1. Place document on glass or in ADF.
  2. On computer, open Brother scanning software (ControlCenter).
  3. Select scan profile (Document, Photo, etc.) and destination (File, Email, OCR).
  4. Click Scan; preview may appear.
  5. Adjust settings (resolution, format) if needed, then finalize.
  6. From control panel: Press SCAN button, choose destination (PC, Network, Email), then Start.

Supported scan formats: PDF, JPEG, TIFF, etc.

Faxing Documents

Using phone line.

  1. Connect phone line to LINE port on printer.
  2. Place document in ADF or on glass.
  3. Press FAX button.
  4. Dial number using numeric keypad or speed dial.
  5. Press Black Start or Color Start to send.
  6. For manual receive: Set to FAX mode; printer will answer after rings set in menu.
  7. For auto receive: Default mode; answers after specified rings.

PC-FAX: Send/receive faxes directly from computer using installed software.

Fax Memory: Stores received faxes if out of paper or ink.
