Installation & Setup
Unpack and inspect contents. Place on stable, level surface near power outlet and network connection.
- Install ink cartridges: Open front cover, remove protective tape from cartridges, insert into correct slots until they click.
- Load paper: Adjust paper guides in tray, load plain paper face down.
- Connect power: Plug power cord into printer and wall outlet.
- Turn on printer: Press POWER button; LCD will initialize.

Control Panel & Settings
Access functions via control panel buttons and LCD menu.
Control Panel Buttons: POWER, COPY, SCAN, FAX, MENU, UP/DOWN arrows, OK, BACK, STOP/EXIT, # (Speed Dial), Black Start, Color Start.
LCD Menu Navigation: Use arrows to scroll, OK to select. Menu options include:
- Report: Print network config, fax log, etc.
- Fax Settings: Set fax number, ring delay, ECM.
- Network: Configure Wi-Fi, TCP/IP, WPS.
- Maintenance: Clean print heads, align cartridge, nozzle check.

Connecting to Network
For wired or wireless network access.
- Wired (Ethernet): Connect Ethernet cable from router to printer.
- Wireless (Wi-Fi):
- Via WPS: Press WPS button on router, then on printer control panel go to MENU > Network > WLAN > WPS.
- Manual setup: Use LCD to select SSID and enter password.
- Install network software on computer to detect printer.
- Verify connection by printing network configuration report.

Printing Documents
From computer or mobile device.
- Ensure printer is on and connected.

- Print Head Cleaning: If print quality declines, go to MENU > Maintenance > Clean Print Head.
- Nozzle Check: Print test pattern via MENU > Maintenance > Nozzle Check.
- Alignment: After cartridge change, perform alignment via MENU > Maintenance > Align Cartridge.
- Cleaning Exterior: Unplug, use soft dry cloth. Do not use alcohol or abrasive cleaners.
- Cleaning Scanner Glass: Use lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water; dry thoroughly.
CAUTION! Use only Brother genuine ink cartridges. Do not refill cartridges as it may damage printer.
