Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on a stable, level surface near a power outlet and network connection.

  1. Remove all packaging materials and tapes from inside and outside the printer.
  2. Install toner cartridges: Open front cover, remove packing materials, insert cyan, magenta, yellow, and black cartridges until they click.
  3. Load paper: Pull out paper tray, adjust guides, load paper, and reinsert tray.
  4. Connect power cord and plug into AC outlet.
  5. Turn on the printer using the power switch.

WARNING! Do not touch the green drum surface of toner cartridges. Keep printer away from heat sources and humidity.

First-Time Setup

Power on the printer; follow on-screen prompts on the touchscreen.

  1. Initial setup: Select language, country, date, and time.
  2. Install print driver: Insert installation CD or download from Brother website, follow on-screen instructions.
  3. Network setup: Connect via Ethernet cable or use wireless setup wizard to join Wi-Fi network.
  4. Align cartridges: Printer will automatically print an alignment page; follow prompts to complete.

Connecting to Network

Ethernet: Use RJ-45 cable to connect to router. Wireless: Use WPS or manual setup via touchscreen.

  1. Turn on printer and navigate to Network > Wireless.
  2. Select your network from list or enter SSID manually.
  3. Enter Wi-Fi password if required.
  4. Confirm connection; print network configuration page to verify.
  5. For wired connection, plug Ethernet cable into printer and router.

Printing & Copying

  2. Faxing: Connect phone line to LINE port. Place document, enter recipient number using keypad, press Start. Use speed dial for stored numbers.
  3. Fax memory: Stores received faxes if out of paper or toner.
  4. Scan to Email: Requires SMTP server setup via Brother Web Based Management.

Note: For scanning to PC, install Brother software or use TWAIN/WIA driver.

Maintenance & Supplies

Replace toner cartridges when low or empty. Clean printer regularly.

  1. Toner replacement: Open front cover, remove old cartridge, unpack new one, insert until click, close cover.
  2. Drum unit life: Replace when message appears (approx. 30,000 pages).
