Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on stable, level surface near power outlet.

  1. Install ink cartridges: Open front cover, remove protective tape, insert cartridges until they click.
  2. Load paper: Adjust paper guides in tray, load plain paper face down.
  3. Connect power: Plug power cord into printer and wall outlet.
  4. Turn on printer: Press power button, follow on-screen prompts.
  5. Install software: Insert CD or download drivers from Brother website.

WARNING! Do not touch printhead or ink contacts. Keep printer upright during setup.

Maintenance & Ink

Replace ink when LCD indicates low. Clean printhead via Maintenance menu.

Ink Cartridges: Use Brother LC-221 series. Replace one color at a time.

  1. Open front cover, wait for carriage to move.
  2. Press down on cartridge to release, remove.
  3. Unpack new cartridge, insert until click.
  4. Close cover, allow printer to initialize.

CAUTION! Do not refill cartridges; may damage printer. Recycle empty cartridges.
