Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on stable, level surface near power outlet and network connection.

Connecting to Network

Printing Documents

From computer or mobile device.

  1. Ensure printer is on and ready (no error lights).
  2. Open document, select Print, choose "Brother MFC-7860DW" as printer.
  3. Adjust settings: Properties > Layout (duplex, pages per sheet), Paper (size, type), Quality (draft, normal, best).
  4. Click Print; job processes via driver.
  5. For mobile printing: Use Brother iPrint&Scan app, Apple AirPrint, or Google Cloud Print.
  6. Cancel job: Press Stop/Exit on control panel or cancel from print queue on computer.

WARNING! Do not open covers during printing. Allow printed pages to cool before handling.

Copying & Scanning

Copying:

Scanning:

  1. Place original.

  3. To Network/Email: Use Scan-to-Email, Scan-to-FTP, or Scan-to-Network folder (requires setup).
  4. Press Start; file saves to destination.

CAUTION! Do not force ADF; ensure no staples or clips on originals.

Fax Operations

Requires connection to analog telephone line.

  1. Connect telephone line cord from wall jack to printer's LINE port.
  2. Set Fax Settings via LCD: Menu > Fax > General Setup (station ID, ring delay, fax mode).
  3. Send Fax: Place original, dial number using keypad, press Start (or set for delayed transmission).
  4. Receive Fax: Auto mode answers after set rings; manual by lifting connected phone, then press Start.
  5. View/Print reports: Menu > Report > Fax Journal/TX Report.

Note: For best results, use clear originals and ensure phone line is analog (not digital/VoIP without proper adapter).

Maintenance & Supplies

Toner Replacement: When Toner light flashes or print becomes faint.

  1. Open front cover.
  2. Remove old cartridge, unpack new one, shake gently.
  3. Insert new cartridge until it clicks; close cover.

Drum Unit Replacement: When Drum light flashes (approx. every 12,000 pages). Replace drum unit following instructions in manual.

Cleaning: Unplug printer. Wipe exterior with dry, soft cloth. Clean scanner glass with lint-free cloth and glass cleaner. Do not use alcohol or abrasive cleaners on surfaces.

CAUTION! Dispose of used toner cartridges according to local regulations. Do not incinerate.
