Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on a stable, level surface near a power outlet.

  1. Remove all packaging tape and protective materials from inside and outside the printer.
  2. Install Toner Cartridges: Open front cover, remove packing material, insert cartridges in correct color slots (C, M, Y, K).
  3. Load Paper: Adjust paper guides in tray, load up to 250 sheets of plain paper.
  4. Connect Power: Plug power cord into printer and wall outlet.
  5. Turn on printer using power switch.
  6. Install Driver: Use installation CD or download from Brother website, follow on-screen instructions for USB or network connection.

WARNING! Do not touch the green drum surface of toner cartridges. Keep printer away from heat and humidity.

Loading Paper & Toner

Loading Paper:

Replacing Toner:

  1. Open front cover when printer is on.
  2. Wait for cartridge carriage to move to center.
  3. Press blue lever on old cartridge, pull it out.
  4. Unpack new cartridge, shake gently, insert until it clicks.
  5. Close front cover.

Tip: Use only genuine Brother TN-221 toner cartridges for optimal performance.

Printing Documents

From a connected computer or mobile device.

  1. Ensure printer is on and connected (USB/Network/Wi-Fi).
  2. Open document, select Print.
  3. Choose "Brother DCP-L3510CDW" as printer.
  4. Set preferences: Color/B&W, Duplex, Paper Size, Quality.
  5. Click Print.

Using Control Panel: Menu > Print Reports to print configuration page, network report, etc.

WARNING! Do not open covers or remove paper during printing.

Copying Documents

  1. Place original face down on scanner glass or face up in ADF (if equipped).
  2. Use Control Panel to set copy options: Number of copies (1-99), Darkness, Reduce/Enlarge (25%-400%), Paper Size, 2-sided copy.
  3. Press Black Start or Color Start button to begin.
  4. For ID Copy: Place ID card on scanner, select ID Copy from menu to copy both sides onto single page.

CAUTION! Do not place heavy objects on scanner glass.

Scanning Documents

Scan to computer, email, or network folder.

  1. Install Brother software (ControlCenter) on computer.
  2. Place document on scanner glass.
  3. On computer, open ControlCenter, select Scan profile (Document, Photo, etc.).
  4. Set destination (File, Email, OCR) and format (PDF, JPEG).
  5. Click Scan. Or press Scan button on printer to scan using default settings.

Network Scan: Configure scan to folder or email via Web Based Management (web browser).

Network & Wireless Setup

Wired Network: Connect Ethernet cable from router to printer.

Wireless Setup (Wi-Fi):

  1. Press Menu on control panel, navigate to Network > WLAN.
  2. Select Setup Wizard, choose your network from list.
  3. Enter Wi-Fi password using on-screen keyboard.
  4. Apply settings, printer will connect.
  5. Print Network Configuration Report to verify IP address.

Wi-Fi Direct: Allows direct connection from mobile devices without a router. Enable from Network menu.

Maintenance & Care

Unplug printer before cleaning exterior. Use dry, soft cloth. Do not use alcohol or abrasive cleaners.

Cleaning Inside: Open front cover, gently wipe away any spilled toner with dry cloth.

Cleaning Scanner Glass: Use glass cleaner and soft cloth. Spray onto cloth, not directly on glass.

Replacing Drum Unit: When Drum light flashes, replace DR-221 drum unit (sold separately). Procedure similar to toner replacement.

CAUTION! Toner is not hazardous but can be messy. Avoid inhaling toner dust.
