Unpacking and Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on a stable, level surface near a power outlet.

  1. Remove all packaging materials and tapes from inside and outside the printer.
  2. Install ink cartridges: Open front cover, insert cartridges into their respective slots, press until they click.
  3. Load paper: Adjust paper guides in the main tray, load up to 250 sheets of plain paper.
  4. Connect power cord and plug into AC outlet.
  5. Turn on the printer using the power switch.

WARNING! Do not touch printhead or ink cartridge contacts. Keep printer away from heat sources and direct sunlight.

Initial Setup and Configuration

Power on printer; follow on-screen prompts on the display.

  1. Select language: Use arrow keys on control panel to choose preferred language.
  2. Set date and time: Enter current date and time for fax and print logs.
  3. Install drivers: Insert included CD or download latest drivers from Brother website.
