Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on a stable, level surface near a power outlet and network connection.

  1. Initial Assembly: Install the drum unit and toner cartridge. Remove all protective tapes and materials.
  2. Paper Loading: Load paper into the paper tray(s), adjusting the guides to fit the paper size.
  3. Power & Network: Connect the power cord and turn on the device. Connect the Ethernet cable to your network router or configure wireless settings via the control panel.
  4. Driver Installation: Install the printer drivers and software from the included CD or download from the Brother website.

WARNING! The device is heavy; lift with care using two people. Ensure the power is off during initial setup.

Control Panel & Menus

Loading Paper & Toner

  2. Toner Cartridge: Open the front cover. Pull the drum unit out. Press the blue lever on the toner cartridge and lift it out. Unpack the new cartridge, shake it gently, and insert it into the drum unit until it clicks. Reinsert the drum unit and close the front cover.

Tip: Use only Brother Genuine TN-730 or TN-760 toner cartridges. Do not touch the green drum surface.

Printing & Copying

Printing from a PC: Ensure drivers are installed. Select 'Brother MFC-L7710DN' as your printer in the application's print dialog. Configure settings like duplex, quality, and number of copies.

Making Copies:

  1. Place the original face-up in the ADF or face-down on the scanner glass.
  2. Press the Copy button on the control panel.
  3. Use the arrow keys and number pad to set the number of copies and other settings (darkness, paper size).
  4. Press Start to begin copying.

WARNING! Do not place heavy objects on the scanner glass or ADF. Keep the ADF clean of staples or paper clips.

Scanning & Faxing

Scanning to a PC: Install the Brother software (ControlCenter). Place the document. Press the Scan button and select your PC from the list on the LCD, or use the software on your computer to initiate the scan.

Sending a Fax:

  1. Load the document.
  2. Press the Fax button.
  3. Dial the fax number using the number pad or a speed dial key.
  4. Press Start to send. The LCD will show the transmission status.

Configure fax settings (header, redial, etc.) via the Fax menu.

Network Configuration

Configure via the control panel menu or the embedded web server (EWS).

  1. Wired (Ethernet): Connect an Ethernet cable. The device will typically obtain an IP address automatically via DHCP.
  2. Wireless: Navigate to Menu > Network > Wireless. Use the WPS button on your router or manually enter your network's SSID and password.
  3. EWS Access: Print a Network Configuration Report to find the device's IP address. Enter this IP into a web browser on a connected PC to access advanced settings.

Tip: For stable performance, a wired connection is recommended.

Maintenance & Care

Unplug the device before cleaning the exterior. Use a soft, dry cloth. Do not use alcohol, ammonia, or abrasive cleaners.

Cleaning the Scanner Glass: Open the ADF. Gently wipe the glass and the white backing strip with a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water. Dry thoroughly.

Replacing Supplies: Replace the toner cartridge and drum unit (DR-730) as indicated by messages on the LCD or when print quality declines.

CAUTION! Do not touch the transfer roller or other internal components. Allow the device to cool before performing any maintenance.
