Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on stable, level surface near power outlet.

  1. Remove all packaging materials and tapes from inside and outside the device.
  2. Install the toner cartridge: Open front cover, remove shipping materials, insert cartridge until it clicks.
  3. Load paper: Adjust paper guides in tray, load plain paper (up to 250 sheets).
  4. Connect power cord to rear of device and plug into AC outlet.
  5. Connect USB cable to computer (if installing drivers first).

WARNING! Do not touch the green drum surface of the toner cartridge. Avoid placing in direct sunlight or humid environments.

First-Time Setup

  2. Making Copies: Place original on scanner glass or in ADF. Use control panel to set number of copies, density, size. Press COPY.
  3. Copy Features: Reduce/Enlarge (25%-400%), N-up (2/4 pages per sheet), Toner Save mode, ID Card Copy.
  4. Interrupting a Job: Press STOP/EXIT button. To resume, cancel or wait for timeout.
  5. Paper Selection: Ensure correct paper type and size is set in tray and software settings.

WARNING! Do not touch the scanner glass or ADF rollers with fingers; use clean, smooth originals.

Scanning Documents

Scan to computer via USB using included software.

  1. Install Brother software (ControlCenter, Scanner Driver).
  2. Place document face down on glass or face up in ADF.
  3. Press SCAN button on device or launch scanning software on computer.
