Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on stable, level surface near power outlet and network connection.

  1. Remove packaging materials and tape from printer interior.
  2. Install toner cartridge: Open front cover, remove cartridge from packaging, shake gently, insert until it clicks.
  3. Load paper: Adjust paper guides in tray, load paper (up to 500 sheets).
  4. Connect power cable to printer and wall outlet.
  5. Connect to computer or network: Use USB cable or Ethernet cable.

WARNING! Printer is heavy; lift with care using handles. Ensure ventilation space around printer.

First-Time Setup

Power on printer; follow initial setup prompts on control panel.

  1. Install printer driver: Insert installation CD or download from Brother website, follow on-screen instructions.

Drum Unit: Replace when message appears or after approximately 30,000 pages.

Care & Cleaning

Unplug printer before cleaning. Exterior: Use soft, dry cloth. Interior: Use approved vacuum with static-safe nozzle to remove paper dust and toner particles.

CAUTION! Do not use alcohol, ammonia, or abrasive cleaners. Do not touch transfer roller or imaging components.
