Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on stable, level surface near power outlet.

  1. Remove all packaging materials and tape from inside and outside the printer.
  2. Install the toner cartridge: Open front cover, remove cartridge from packaging, shake gently, insert until it clicks.
  3. Load paper: Adjust paper guides in the input tray, load paper (plain, A4 or Letter).
  4. Connect power cable to printer and wall outlet.
  5. Connect to computer: Use USB cable (included) or connect to network via Ethernet cable.

WARNING! Do not touch the green drum surface of the toner cartridge. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight or high humidity.

First-Time Setup

Power on printer; install software and drivers.

  1. Turn on printer using power switch on rear.
  2. Install driver: Insert CD or download latest driver from Brother website. Follow on-screen instructions.
  3. Select connection type: USB or Network during installation.
  4. Configure basic settings: Set language, date/time via control panel menu.
