Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on stable, level surface near power outlet.

  1. Remove all packaging materials and tapes from inside and outside the printer.
  2. Install the toner cartridge: Open front cover, remove protective tape from cartridge, insert until it clicks.
  3. Load paper: Adjust paper guides in tray, load up to 150 sheets of plain paper.
  4. Connect power cord to printer and wall outlet.
  5. Connect USB cable to computer (if setting up immediately).

WARNING! Do not touch the green drum surface of the toner cartridge. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight or high humidity.

First-Time Setup

Power on printer; follow on-screen prompts on computer.

  1. Install software: Insert driver CD or download latest drivers from Brother website.
  2. Follow installation wizard: Select connection type (USB), agree to license terms.
  3. Test print: Print a test page via driver properties to verify installation.
  4. Configure default settings: Set paper size, print quality, and eco-mode preferences.

CAUTION! Ensure printer is on a flat, stable surface with adequate ventilation.

Copying: Place original on scanner glass or use ADF (if equipped). Use control panel to set number of copies, darkness, reduce/enlarge. Press Start.

Scanning: Install scanning software (Brother ControlCenter). Place document, press Scan button or use software to scan to file, email, or OCR.

Maintenance & Supplies

Replace toner when low or empty message appears. Use genuine Brother TN-360 toner cartridge. Clean exterior with dry cloth; clean scanner glass with soft, lint-free cloth and glass cleaner if needed. Clean interior with approved vacuum to remove paper dust.

CAUTION! Unplug printer before cleaning. Do not use abrasive cleaners or compressed air on internal components.
