Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on stable, level surface near power outlet.

  1. Remove all packaging tape and materials from inside and outside the unit.
  2. Install toner cartridge: Open front cover, remove protective tape from cartridge, insert until it clicks.
  3. Load paper: Adjust paper guides in tray, load up to 250 sheets of plain paper.
  4. Connect power cord to rear of unit and plug into AC outlet.
  5. Connect USB cable to computer (install software first if prompted).

WARNING! Do not touch the green drum surface of the toner cartridge. Avoid placing in humid or dusty locations.

First-Time Setup

Power on device; follow on-screen prompts from installation CD.

  1. Install software: Insert CD, run setup, follow instructions for driver installation.
  2. Test print: Print a test page via control panel or software utility.
  3. Configure fax settings: Set date/time, station ID, and dial mode (tone/pulse).
  4. Register product online for support and warranty activation.

CAUTION! Ensure proper ventilation; keep at least 4 inches clearance on all sides.

Connecting to Computer

USB: Standard USB 2.0 cable (Type B to Type A).

  1. Install software from CD before connecting USB cable for first time.
  2. Connect USB cable to rear port of MFC-240C and to computer's USB port.
  3. Follow on-screen prompts to complete driver installation.
  4. For multiple computers, install drivers on each or share via network (requires optional print server).

Tip: Use a high-quality USB cable no longer than 10 feet for reliable communication.

Printing & Copying

Supports standard paper sizes up to 8.5" x 14" (Legal).

  1. Printing: Select print from computer application, choose MFC-240C as printer, adjust properties as needed.
  2. Copying: Place original on scanner glass or in ADF, press COPY, set number of copies and options via arrows, press START.
  3. Multiple copies: Use numeric keypad (or arrows) to set quantity (1-99).
  4. Enlarge/Reduce: Use percentage settings in copy menu.
  5. Toner Save: Enable in print driver or device menu to extend toner life.

WARNING! Do not look directly at laser beam inside printer. Keep hands clear during operation.

Scanning & Faxing

Scan to computer or memory device; send/receive faxes.

  1. Scanning: Place document, press SCAN, select destination (PC, USB), choose settings, press START.
  2. PC-Fax: Send fax directly from computer using installed software.
  3. Manual Fax: Place document, dial number using keypad or speed dial, press START.
  4. Receive Modes: Set to AUTO for automatic reception, or TEL/FAX for shared line.
  5. Fax Memory: Stores received faxes if paper runs out; print later.

Note: For scanning to USB, device must be formatted as FAT16/32.

Maintenance & Supplies

Replace toner cartridge (TN-360) when print quality fades or low toner message appears.

  1. Open front cover, remove old cartridge by pulling toward you.
  2. Unpack new cartridge, gently shake side-to-side, insert until it clicks.
  3. Close cover; device will calibrate automatically.
  4. Clean exterior with dry cloth; clean scanner glass with soft, lint-free cloth and glass cleaner if needed.

CAUTION! Do not use abrasive cleaners. Unplug before cleaning interior. Recycle used cartridges per local regulations.
