Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on stable, level surface near power outlet and computer.

  1. Remove all packaging materials and tapes from inside and outside the unit.
  2. Install toner cartridges: Open front cover, remove protective materials, insert cartridges until they click.
  3. Load paper: Adjust paper guides in input tray, load up to 250 sheets of plain paper.
  4. Connect power cable to rear of unit and plug into AC outlet.
  5. Connect USB cable to computer and to the USB port on the rear of the printer.

WARNING! Do not touch the green drum surface of the toner cartridge. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight or high humidity.

First-Time Setup

Power on the device; install software from included CD or download from Brother website.

  1. Turn on the power switch. The device will initialize.
  2. Install driver software on your computer. Follow on-screen instructions.
  3. When prompted, select connection type (USB).
  4. Perform a test print to verify installation.
  5. Configure basic settings via the control panel menu (language, date/time).

CAUTION! Ensure the device is on a flat, stable surface with adequate ventilation.

Access functions via the Control Panel LCD and buttons.

Control Panel: POWER, LCD Display, Navigation Arrows (Up/Down/Left/Right), OK, Stop/Exit, Start (Black), Start (Color), Menu, Copy, Scan.

Menu Settings: Device Settings (Language, Date/Time), Print Settings (Density, Toner Save), Copy Settings (Zoom, Darkness, Quality), Scan Settings (Resolution, File Format), Network Settings (if applicable), Maintenance (Clean Drum, Print Report).

Connecting to Computer

Primary connection via USB cable. Ensure drivers are installed.

  1. Turn off the device and computer before connecting USB cable.
  2. Connect the USB cable to the port on the rear of the device and to an available USB port on your computer.
  3. Turn on the device, then start the computer.
  4. The operating system should detect new hardware. Install drivers if not already done.
  5. Select the Brother DCP-330C as your default printer in your computer's printer settings.

Tip: Use a high-quality USB cable no longer than 3 meters for reliable communication.

Printing & Copying

Supports standard printing from computer applications and standalone copying.

  1. Printing: Select 'Print' from your application, choose DCP-330C, adjust properties if needed, and click Print.
  2. Copying:
    • Place original face down on the scanner glass or face up in the ADF (if equipped).
    • Use the control panel to set number of copies, zoom, and darkness.
    • Press the Black Start or Color Start button.
  3. Cancel Job: Press the Stop/Exit button on the control panel.
  4. Toner Save Mode: Enable in Print Settings or Device Settings menu to conserve toner.

WARNING! Do not look directly at the laser beam inside the device. Allow hot surfaces to cool before performing internal maintenance.

Scanning Features

Scan to computer via USB connection using Brother software or Windows/Mac built-in utilities.

  1. Place document on scanner glass.
  2. Launch scanning software (ControlCenter, Windows Fax and Scan, etc.).
  3. Select scan settings: Color mode, Resolution, File format (PDF, JPEG, etc.), Destination.
  4. Preview scan if desired, then execute the final scan.
  5. Scanned files are saved to the specified folder on your computer.

Note: For best OCR results, scan documents in Black & White mode at 300 dpi.

Maintenance & Care

Unplug the device before cleaning. Keep exterior clean and ensure proper ventilation.

  1. Exterior: Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn stains, dampen cloth with water only. Do not use alcohol or solvents.
  2. Scanner Glass: Clean with a soft, lint-free cloth. Use glass cleaner if necessary, but spray onto the cloth, not directly on the glass.
  3. Paper Path: Keep paper trays free of dust, staples, or paper clips.
  4. Toner Cartridges: Replace when print quality fades or low toner message appears. Recycle used cartridges.

CAUTION! Do not use abrasive cleaners. Never immerse any part of the device in liquid.
