Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on stable, level surface near power outlet and computer/network.

  1. Remove all packing materials and tapes from inside and outside the unit.
  2. Install toner cartridges: Open front cover, remove protective materials, insert black, cyan, magenta, yellow cartridges.
  3. Load paper: Adjust paper guides in tray, load up to 250 sheets of plain paper.
  4. Connect power cord to AC inlet and wall outlet.
  5. Connect to computer via USB cable or to network via Ethernet cable.

WARNING! Toner cartridges are heavy; handle with care. Ensure all packing materials are removed to prevent damage.

First-Time Setup

Power on the device; follow on-screen prompts on LCD or computer.

  1. Initial startup: The device will perform a self-test and calibration cycle (takes several minutes).
  2. Install software: Insert driver CD or download from Brother website, follow installation wizard.
  3. Configure network (if applicable): Use control panel to set IP address or use automatic DHCP.

Printing & Scanning
