Installation & Setup

Unpack the printer and remove all protective tapes and materials.

  1. Place the Printer: Place on a stable, flat surface near a power outlet and your computer.
  2. Install the Toner Cartridge: Open the front cover. Remove the new toner cartridge from its bag, shake it gently, and insert it firmly until it clicks. Close the front cover.
  3. Connect Power: Plug the power cord into the printer and then into a wall outlet. Press the Power button.
  4. Load Paper: Pull out the paper tray, adjust the guides, load up to 150 sheets of plain paper, and push the tray back in.
  5. Connect to Computer: Use the supplied USB cable to connect the printer to your computer.

WARNING! Do not touch the green drum surface inside the printer or on the toner cartridge. Keep the printer away from heat and humidity.

Loading Paper & Toner

Properly loading consumables ensures optimal print quality and prevents jams.

  1. Loading Paper: Ensure paper is within the tray's capacity. Fan the paper stack before loading. Adjust the paper width guide snugly against the stack.
  2. Replacing Toner: When print becomes faint or the Drum LED flashes, replace the toner cartridge. Open the front cover, remove the old cartridge, unpack the new one, shake it 5-6 times, insert it, and close the cover. The printer will calibrate automatically.

CAUTION! Use only Brother Genuine TN-1075 toner cartridges. Dispose of used cartridges according to local regulations.

Printer Controls & Indicators

The printer has a simple control panel on the top front.

Power Button: Turns the printer on (green light) or off.

LED Indicators:
Error/Warning (Orange): Flashes when there is an error (e.g., paper jam, cover open, no toner). Stays on solid for a warning condition.
Drum (Green): Flashes when the toner cartridge is near end of life or needs replacement. Stays on solid when ready.

Manual Feed Slot: Located at the rear of the top cover for feeding special media like envelopes or labels one sheet at a time.

Driver Installation & Printing

Install the printer driver software from the included CD or download the latest from the Brother website.

  1. Insert the CD or run the downloaded installer file.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions. Choose "USB Connection" when prompted.
  3. The installer will guide you through connecting the USB cable when requested.
  4. Complete the installation and restart your computer if prompted.
  5. To print, select 'Brother HL-1110 series' as your printer in any application's print dialog.
  6. Use the 'Printing Preferences' to adjust settings like paper size, orientation, and print quality.

Tip: For network printing, this model requires a print server accessory (e.g., Brother NC-200w).

Maintenance & Cleaning

Regular cleaning prevents dust buildup which can cause print quality issues.

  1. Unplug the printer from the power outlet.
  2. Wipe the exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use alcohol or solvents.
  3. Open the front cover and gently wipe the interior with a dry lint-free cloth to remove any loose toner particles.
  4. Clean the paper feed rollers with a cloth dampened with water if they appear dirty or glossy.
  5. Ensure the paper path is clear of any obstructions or scraps of paper.

CAUTION! Never use sharp objects to clean inside the printer. Allow all parts to dry completely before reconnecting power.

Troubleshooting Common Issues
