Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on a stable, level surface near a power outlet and network connection.

  1. Install toner cartridges: Open front cover, remove packing material, insert color (C, M, Y) and black (K) cartridges.
  2. Load paper: Adjust paper guides in tray, load plain paper (up to capacity).
  3. Connect power: Plug power cord into printer and wall outlet.
  4. Connect to computer/network: Use Ethernet cable for network, or USB cable for direct connection.
  5. Power on: Press power button, follow on-screen prompts to select language and set date/time.
  6. Install drivers: Use installation CD or download from Brother website.

Fax Operations

Connect phone line to LINE port on back. Ensure date/time set for stamping.

  1. Sending a Fax: Place document, dial number using keypad or speed dial, press Start.
  2. Receiving Faxes: Set mode (Fax, Tel/Fax auto-switch) in Fax Settings.
  3. Memory: Stores up to 400 pages if paper/toner runs out.
  4. Reports: Print transmission confirmation and activity reports from Fax menu.

Note: For best results, use original documents without staples or clips in ADF.

Maintenance & Supplies

Replace consumables when indicators appear on LCD or control panel.

Cleaning: Turn off and unplug. Wipe exterior with dry cloth. Clean interior with provided cleaning brush or lint-free cloth.

CAUTION! Do not touch the green surface of the drum unit. Keep toner cartridges in sealed bag until ready for use.
