Initial Setup & Installation

Unpack printer and remove all tape and packaging materials.

  1. Install Ink Cartridges: Open front cover; insert cartridges into respective slots until they click.
  2. Load Paper: Adjust paper guides in tray; load up to 100 sheets of plain paper.
  3. Power On: Connect AC power cord; press POWER button.
  4. Initial Setup: Follow LCD prompts to set language, date/time, and align printhead.
  5. Install Software: Insert CD or download drivers from Brother website; follow on-screen instructions.

WARNING! Do not touch printhead or ink cartridge contacts. Handle cartridges carefully to avoid leaks.

Network Configuration

  3. Send Fax: Place document in ADF; dial number manually or use speed dial; press Start.
  4. Receive Fax: Set to auto-answer after specified rings; manual answer also available.

CAUTION! Use only analog telephone lines. Do not connect to digital PBX lines without proper adapter.
