Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on a stable, level surface near a power outlet and telephone line.

  1. Install toner cartridge: Open front cover, remove packing material, insert cartridge until it clicks.
  2. Load paper: Pull out paper tray, adjust guides, load paper (face down), reinsert tray.
  3. Connect telephone line: Plug one end into LINE port on rear, other end into wall jack.
  4. Connect handset: Plug coiled cord into HANDSET port.
  5. Connect power: Plug power cord into unit and wall outlet.

WARNING! Do not touch the green drum inside the toner cartridge. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight or high humidity.

First-Time Setup

Power on the device; follow on-screen prompts on the LCD display.

  1. Set date and time: Use control panel buttons to navigate and set current date/time.
  2. Install software: Insert driver CD into computer, follow installation wizard for printer and fax drivers.
  3. Test print: Print a test page from the printer properties or by pressing specific buttons on the control panel.
  4. Configure fax settings: Set station ID (name and number) and adjust ring settings if needed.

CAUTION! Ensure all protective tapes and materials are removed before first use.

Connecting to a Computer

USB Connection: Use included USB cable to connect the printer to your computer.

  1. Ensure the device and computer are powered off.
  2. Connect the USB cable to the port on the rear of the MFC-210C and to an available USB port on your computer.
  3. Power on the device, then start the computer.
  4. Install the driver software from the provided CD or download the latest from the Brother website.
  5. Follow on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

Tip: For best performance, connect the USB cable directly to the computer, not through a hub.

Printing and Copying

Supports standard letter and legal size paper.

  1. Printing from PC: Select 'Brother MFC-210C' as the printer in your application's print dialog.
  2. Making Copies:
    • Place document face down on the scanner glass or face up in the ADF (if equipped).
    • Use the control panel to set number of copies, contrast, and size.
    • Press START (Copy).
  3. Adjusting Copy Quality: Use RESOLUTION and CONTRAST buttons for text or photo documents.
  4. Interrupting a Job: Press STOP/EXIT to cancel the current operation.

WARNING! Do not look directly at the laser beam inside the printer. Keep hands clear of paper path during operation.

Scanning and Faxing

Scanning to PC: Install the Brother software. Place document, select scan profile on PC, and initiate scan.

Sending a Fax:

  1. Load document.
  2. Dial number using keypad or speed dial.
  3. Press START (Fax) or wait for automatic send after dialing (depending on mode).

Receiving a Fax: Set to FAX mode for automatic reception, or TEL/FAX mode to answer calls manually.

PC-FAX: Send and receive faxes directly from your computer using the installed software.

Maintenance & Cleaning

Unplug the device before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior. Clean the scanner glass with a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water or glass cleaner.

Replacing Toner: When toner is low, open front cover, remove old cartridge, unpack new one, shake gently, and insert until it clicks.

Clearing Paper Jams: Follow guided instructions on the LCD. Open rear cover or paper tray carefully to remove jammed paper.

CAUTION! Do not use abrasive cleaners or aerosols. Do not touch the transfer roller or other internal components with bare hands.
