Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on a stable, level surface near a power outlet.

  1. Remove all packaging materials and tape from inside and outside the unit.
  2. Install the toner cartridge: Open front cover, remove cartridge from packaging, shake gently, insert into slot until it clicks.
  3. Load paper: Adjust paper guides in the input tray, load up to 250 sheets of plain paper.
  4. Connect power cord to the printer and a wall outlet.
  5. Connect to computer: Use USB cable to connect to PC, or connect Ethernet cable for network use.

WARNING! Do not touch the green drum surface of the toner cartridge. Avoid placing in direct sunlight or humid environments.

First-Time Setup

Power on the printer; follow on-screen prompts on the LCD or computer.

  1. Install drivers: Insert the supplied CD or download latest drivers from Brother website.
  2. Configure network (if applicable): Use the control panel to set IP address or use automatic DHCP.
  3. Test print: Print a configuration report from the menu to verify operation.
  4. Set date/time: Important for fax functions; configure via control panel menu.

Tip: Use a shielded USB cable no longer than 10 feet for reliable connection.

Printing & Scanning

Supports printing from applications, copying, and scanning to PC or network folder.

  1. Printing: Select "Brother DCP-8060" as printer in application, adjust properties as needed, click Print.
  2. Copying: Place document on flatbed or in ADF, use control panel to set number of copies, density, size, press START.
  3. Scanning: Place document, use Brother ControlCenter software on PC to select destination (file, email, OCR), press SCAN button on printer or click Scan in software.
  4. Advanced Functions: 2-sided (duplex) printing, N-up (multiple pages per sheet), poster printing, watermark.

WARNING! Do not place heavy objects on scanner glass. Keep ADF clean from staples or paper clips.

Fax Functions

Configure telephone line connection and settings for sending/receiving faxes.

  1. Connect telephone line cord from wall jack to LINE port on printer.
  2. Set date/time and station ID (your fax number/name) in FAX menu.
  3. To send a fax: Place document, dial number using keypad or speed dial, press START.
  4. To receive fax: Set mode (Auto, Manual, Fax/Tel). In Auto mode, printer answers after set rings.
  5. Use PC-Fax to send faxes directly from your computer without printing.

Note: Enable Error Correction Mode (ECM) for better transmission over noisy lines.

Maintenance & Supplies

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity.

CAUTION! Unplug printer before cleaning. Do not use abrasive cleaners or compressed air inside the unit.
