Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on stable, level surface near power outlet.

  1. Remove packing materials: Remove all tapes and protective covers from inside and outside.
  2. Install toner cartridges: Open front cover, insert cyan, magenta, yellow, and black cartridges.
  3. Load paper: Adjust paper guides in tray, load plain paper.
  4. Connect power: Plug into AC outlet, turn power switch ON.
  5. Install drivers: Use installation CD or download from Brother website.

WARNING! Toner cartridges are heavy; handle with care. Keep printer away from heat sources.

Loading Paper & Toner

Proper loading ensures optimal print quality and prevents jams.

  1. Paper loading: Pull out paper tray, adjust guides, fan paper, load face-up.
  2. Toner replacement: Open front cover when prompted, remove old cartridge, shake new cartridge, insert until click.
  3. Duplex unit: Built-in; ensure no obstructions in paper path.
  4. Waste toner box: Replace when LCD indicates (model TN-338).

CAUTION! Do not touch the green drum surface on toner cartridges. Store toner in cool, dry place.
