Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on stable, level surface near power outlet.

  1. Remove packaging materials and tapes from printer.
  2. Install ink bottles: Remove caps, insert into correct color tanks (Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow).
  3. Connect power cord to printer and wall outlet.
  4. Load paper into input tray.
  5. Turn on printer using power button.

WARNING! Do not tilt printer after ink installation to prevent leaks. Keep ink bottles upright.

First-Time Setup

Power on printer; follow initial setup prompts.

  1. Install printhead: Printer will automatically move carriage for printhead installation.
  2. Charge ink system: Printer will begin initial ink charging (takes several minutes).
  3. Install software: Insert CD or download drivers from Brother website.
  4. Connect to computer: Use USB cable or configure wireless connection.
