Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on stable, level surface near power outlet.

  1. Remove all packaging materials and tape from inside/outside of device.
  2. Install toner cartridges: Open front cover, remove packing material, insert black and color cartridges.
  3. Load paper: Adjust paper guides in input tray, load up to 250 sheets.
  4. Connect power cord to rear of device and to AC outlet.
  5. Connect USB cable to computer (for direct connection) or Ethernet cable to network router.
  6. For fax: Connect phone line to LINE port on rear.

WARNING! Device is heavy; use caution when lifting. Ensure all packing materials are removed before powering on.

First-Time Setup

Power on device; follow on-screen prompts on LCD display.

  1. Initial startup: Device will perform self-test and calibration (may take several minutes).
  2. Install software: Insert included CD or download drivers from Brother website. Follow installation wizard.
