Unpacking and Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on a stable, level surface near a power outlet.

  1. Remove all tape and packing materials from inside and outside the machine.
  2. Install the toner cartridge: Open front cover, remove cartridge from packaging, shake gently, and insert until it clicks.
  3. Load paper: Adjust paper guides in tray, load up to 250 sheets of plain paper.
  4. Connect power cord and turn on the machine using the power switch.

WARNING! Machine is heavy; lift with care using handles. Ensure proper ventilation around the device.

Installation and Configuration

Power on the machine; follow initial setup prompts on the LCD.

  1. Connect to network: Use Ethernet cable to connect to router/switch.
  2. Install drivers: Insert installation CD or download from Brother website, follow on-screen instructions.
  3. Set date/time: Use control panel menu to configure system settings.
  4. Configure fax settings: Enter line type, station ID, and other telephony parameters if using fax.

  1. Sending: Place document, dial number using keypad or speed dial, press Start.
  2. Receiving: Set to Auto mode for automatic reception, or Manual to answer manually.
  3. Speed Dial: Store up to 100 numbers for quick dialing.
  4. Fax Forward: Forward received faxes to another fax number.

Note: Ensure telephone line is connected to LINE port, not EXT port.

Maintenance and Care

Unplug before cleaning. Use dry, lint-free cloth; do not use alcohol or solvents.

  1. Toner Replacement: Replace when toner low message appears. Open front cover, remove old cartridge, install new one.
  2. Cleaning: Wipe exterior with damp cloth; clean scanner glass with glass cleaner and soft cloth.
  3. Paper Jam Clearing: Follow guided instructions on LCD; open rear cover or ADF to remove jammed paper.
  4. Drum Unit: Replace approximately every 12,000 pages (DR-2310).

CAUTION! Do not touch the green surface of the drum unit; keep toner away from skin and clothing.
