Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on stable, level surface near power outlet.

  1. Install ink cartridges: Open front cover, insert cartridges in correct slots (BK, C, M, Y).
  2. Load paper: Adjust paper guides in tray, load up to 250 sheets.
  3. Connect power: Plug into AC outlet, press POWER button.
  4. Initial setup: Follow touchscreen prompts to set language, date/time.
  5. Install software: Use included CD or download from Brother website.

WARNING! Do not touch print head or ink contacts. Keep printer horizontal during setup.

  3. Wireless (manual): Select network name, enter password on touchscreen.
  4. Verify connection: Print Network Configuration Report.

Tip: Place printer within range of Wi-Fi router for stable connection.

Printing Operations

Supports documents, photos, envelopes, labels.

  1. From computer: Select Brother printer in print dialog, adjust settings.
  2. From mobile: Use Brother iPrint&Scan app or built-in mobile printing.
  3. Duplex printing: Enable in print settings for automatic two-sided.
  4. Photo printing: Use photo paper, select appropriate paper type in settings.
  5. Cancel print job: Press Stop/Exit button or cancel from computer.

WARNING! Do not open covers during printing. Use recommended paper types.

Copying & Scanning

Copy: Place original in ADF or on glass, select copy settings, press Start.

  1. Basic copy: Load document, select number of copies, press Color or Black Start.
  2. Advanced copy: Use touchscreen for 2-sided, reduce/enlarge, photo copy.
  3. Scan to PC: Install Brother software, select scan destination.
  4. Scan to email/cloud: Configure email/cloud services in touchscreen.

Note: Clean scanner glass periodically for best quality.

Fax Functions

Send/receive faxes using phone line connection.

  1. Connect phone line: Use included cable to wall jack and LINE port on printer.
  2. Send fax: Place document, dial number using keypad or speed dial, press Start.
  3. Receive fax: Set to Auto Answer mode (default).
  4. Fax memory: Stores received faxes if out of paper/ink.

CAUTION! Use only analog phone lines. Not compatible with digital/VoIP without adapter.

Maintenance & Ink Management

Replace ink when low indicator appears. Run cleaning cycles if print quality declines.

  1. Check ink levels: View on touchscreen or print report.
  2. Replace cartridge: Open front cover, press old cartridge down, insert new.
  3. Print head cleaning: Access via touchscreen (Settings > Maintenance).
  4. Nozzle check: Print test pattern to verify print quality.

CAUTION! Use only genuine Brother ink cartridges. Do not refill.
