Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on stable, level surface near power outlet.

  1. Remove all packaging materials and tapes from inside and outside the printer.
  2. Install the toner cartridge: Open front cover, remove cartridge from packaging, shake gently, and insert until it clicks.
  3. Load paper: Adjust paper guides in tray, load paper (face down), and adjust guides to fit.
  4. Connect power cable to printer and wall outlet.
  5. Connect USB cable to computer (if installing drivers first, follow on-screen prompts).

WARNING! Do not touch the green drum surface of the toner cartridge. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight or high humidity.

First-Time Setup

Power on printer; install software and drivers.

  1. Turn on printer using power switch on rear.
  2. Install software: Insert CD or download from Brother website. Follow installation wizard.
  3. Select connection type: Choose USB during installation.
  4. Print test page: After installation, print a test page to verify setup.
  5. Configure default settings: Use control panel or software to set paper size, print quality, etc.

  4. Press START to scan; file saves to selected destination.
  5. For multiple pages, use software's multi-page scanning feature.

Note: Maximum scan area is 216mm x 297mm (A4).
