Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect all contents. Place the printer on a stable, flat surface near a power outlet.

  1. Connect Power: Plug the power adapter into the printer and then into a wall outlet.
  2. Load Media: Open the media cover and load your label roll onto the spindle. Thread the media under the guide and close the cover.
  3. Connect to Computer/Network:
    • USB: Connect the provided USB cable to the printer and your computer.
    • Ethernet: Connect an Ethernet cable from your router to the printer's LAN port.
    • Wi-Fi: Use the LCD menu to select your wireless network and enter the password.

Loading Media

Supports rolls of die-cut labels, continuous labels, and tags.

  1. Turn the printer power OFF.
  2. Press the media cover release lever and open the cover.
  3. Place the media roll on the spindle and push the spindle holders against the roll.
  4. Pull the media under the media guide and through the front exit slot. Ensure the media is straight.
  5. Close the media cover firmly until it clicks.
  6. Turn the printer ON. The printer will automatically feed and calibrate the media.

CAUTION! Do not touch the print head with your fingers. Use only recommended Brother media for best results.

Connectivity

USB: For direct connection to a single computer. Ethernet: For shared network printing. Wi-Fi: For wireless network printing.

  1. Ensure the printer is powered off before changing connections.
  2. For network setup, use the LCD menu or the Brother Web BRAdmin tool to configure TCP/IP settings.
  3. Select the connection source in your printing software (e.g., select the network printer IP address).

Tip: For stable Wi-Fi, place the printer within range of your wireless router.

Printing Operations

Print from various applications using the installed driver or via Brother P-touch Editor software.

Maintenance & Cleaning

Unplug the printer before performing maintenance.

  1. Print Head Cleaning: Use a cotton swab lightly moistened with isopropyl alcohol (99% or higher). Gently wipe the print head element from side to side. Let it dry completely.
  2. Roller Cleaning: Use a dry, lint-free cloth to clean the platen roller and other rubber rollers.
  3. Exterior Cleaning: Wipe the casing with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

CAUTION! Never use sharp objects to clean the print head. Perform cleaning regularly for consistent print quality.
