Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on a stable, level surface near a power outlet and network connection.

  1. Remove all packaging materials and tapes from inside and outside the printer.
  2. Install the toner cartridges: Open front cover, remove packing material, insert cartridges in correct color slots.
  3. Load paper: Pull out paper tray, adjust guides, load paper, reinsert tray.
  4. Connect power cord and turn on the printer.
  5. Connect to network via Ethernet cable or configure Wi-Fi.

WARNING! Toner cartridges are sensitive to light; keep them in original packaging until installation. Avoid touching the green drum surface.

First-Time Setup

Power on printer; follow on-screen prompts on the touchscreen display.

  1. Initial setup: Select language, country, date, and time.
  2. Network configuration: Choose wired or wireless setup. For Wi-Fi, select network and enter password.
  3. Install drivers: Use the installation CD or download latest drivers from Brother website.
