Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on stable, level surface near power outlet.

  1. Remove all packaging materials and tapes from inside and outside the device.
  2. Install the toner cartridge: Open front cover, remove cartridge from packaging, shake gently, insert until it clicks.
  3. Load paper: Pull out paper tray, adjust guides, load up to 150 sheets of plain paper.
  4. Connect power cord to printer and wall outlet.
  5. Connect USB cable to computer (if installing drivers).

WARNING! Do not touch the green drum surface of the toner cartridge. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight or high humidity.

First-Time Setup

Power on the device; follow on-screen prompts on computer (if applicable).

  1. Install software: Insert CD or download drivers from Brother website. Follow installation wizard.
  2. Configure initial settings: Set date/time, language (default ENGLISH), and fax header information via control panel.
  3. Test print: Print a test page from driver or device menu to confirm operation.
  4. Register product: Optional online registration for support updates.

CAUTION! Ensure proper ventilation; keep at least 4 inches of clearance on all sides.

Connecting Devices

Tip: Use high-quality USB cable for reliable connection. Avoid using USB hubs if possible.

Printing & Scanning

Supports printing from applications, copying, and scanning to computer or memory device.

  1. Printing: Select "Print" from application, choose Brother MFC-1810 as printer, adjust settings as needed.
  2. Copying: Place document on glass or in ADF, press MONO (color) or START (B&W), set copies/darkness.
  3. Scanning to PC: Use Brother software (ControlCenter) to scan and save files.
  4. Scanning to Memory: Insert USB flash drive, use control panel to scan directly.
  5. Reduce/Enlarge: Use percentage settings for copying.

WARNING! Do not place heavy objects on scanner glass. Keep ADF clean from staples or clips.

  1. Sending: Place document, dial number using keypad or speed dial, press FAX START.
  2. Receiving: Set mode (FAX ONLY, TEL/FAX, etc.) in menu. For automatic, machine answers after rings.
  3. Speed Dial: Store up to 100 numbers for quick dialing.
  4. Redial: Automatically redials last number if busy.
  5. Fax Report: Prints transmission confirmation.

Note: Ensure phone line is connected to LINE port, not TEL port, for proper fax operation.

Care & Maintenance

Unplug before cleaning. Use dry, lint-free cloth; clean exterior and scanner glass gently.

  1. Toner Cartridge: Replace when print quality fades or low toner message appears.
  2. Paper Rollers: Clean with soft cloth if paper feed issues occur.
  3. Scanner Glass: Clean with glass cleaner and soft cloth; avoid scratches.
  4. General: Keep device free of dust; ensure ventilation openings are clear.
