Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on stable, level surface near power outlet and network connection.

  1. Remove all packaging tape and protective materials from inside and outside the printer.
  2. Install the toner cartridge: Open front cover, remove cartridge from packaging, shake gently, insert until it clicks.
  3. Load paper: Adjust paper guides in tray, load paper print-side down, extend output tray.
  4. Connect cables: Attach power cord, connect USB or Ethernet cable to computer/network.
  5. Power on: Press Power button, follow on-screen prompts on LCD to select language, date/time.
  6. Install software: Insert CD or download drivers from Brother website, follow installation wizard.

WARNING! Do not touch the green drum surface of the toner cartridge. Avoid placing printer in dusty, humid, or extremely hot locations.

Controls and Indicators

Access functions via Control Panel LCD and buttons. Front Panel: POWER, STOP/EXIT, UP/DOWN arrows, OK, MENU, BACK, START (Black/Color for copy).

LCD Display: Shows status, menus, error messages, copy count, network settings.

Indicator Lights: POWER (green/amber), ERROR (red), DATA (green), TONER (red).

Loading Paper & Toner

Paper Loading: Use main tray or multipurpose tray. Adjust guides to paper size. Load print-side down, do not exceed maximum fill line. Supported sizes: Letter, Legal, Executive, A4, A5, envelopes, labels.

Toner Replacement: When TONER light illuminates or print becomes faint:

  1. Open front cover.
  2. Remove old cartridge by pulling straight out.
  3. Unpack new cartridge, shake gently side-to-side 5-6 times.
  4. Insert into slot, push firmly until it clicks.
  5. Close front cover. Printer will calibrate automatically.

Tip: Use only genuine Brother TN-660 (standard) or TN-660H (high-yield) toner cartridges.

Printing Documents

From computer: Ensure driver installed. Select Brother DCP-8155DN as printer in application, adjust settings (duplex, quality, paper source) in print dialog.

Network Printing: Install driver with network detection or specify IP address. Use Web Based Management (http://printer_ip) to configure settings remotely.

Secure Print: Select Secure Print in driver, enter passcode. Job is held in memory until released at printer control panel.

Reports: Print configuration, network settings, or page count from MENU > Print Reports.

WARNING! Do not turn off printer during print job. Allow jobs to complete before removing paper.

Copying Documents

  1. Place document face-down on scanner glass or face-up in ADF (if equipped).
  2. Use Control Panel: Press MENU to adjust copy settings (number of copies, darkness, zoom, 2-sided).
  3. Press START (Black) to begin copying. Press STOP/EXIT to cancel.
  4. For ID Copy: Place ID on scanner, select ID Copy from menu to scan both sides onto single page.

CAUTION! Do not force documents into ADF. Remove staples or clips first.

Scanning Documents

Scan to computer via USB or network.

  1. Install scanning software (Brother ControlCenter) from driver CD or website.
  2. Place document on scanner glass or in ADF.
  3. Press SCAN button on Control Panel (if configured) or launch scanning software on computer.
  4. Select destination (file, email, OCR application), adjust settings (resolution, format).
  5. Start scan. File will be saved to specified location.

Network Scanning: Configure scan profiles using Web Based Management or ControlCenter software.

Network Setup

Connect Ethernet cable from router/switch to printer. Power on printer.

  1. Obtain IP address automatically via DHCP (default) or set manually via control panel: MENU > Network > TCP/IP > Manual.
  2. Print Network Configuration Report to verify IP address.
  3. On computer, install driver using "Network Connection" option, follow prompts to detect printer.
  4. For wireless (if model supports), use WPS or manual setup via control panel.

Tip: Use Brother's Web Based Management interface (enter printer IP in browser) for advanced network settings and monitoring.

Maintenance & Cleaning

Unplug power cord before cleaning. Use dry, lint-free cloth. Do not use alcohol, ammonia, or abrasive cleaners.

Exterior: Wipe casing with damp cloth, dry thoroughly.

Scanner Glass: Clean with glass cleaner and soft cloth. Avoid spraying directly on glass.

Paper Path: Remove paper jams gently to avoid damage. Use compressed air to remove dust from rollers.

CAUTION! Do not touch transfer roller or drum. Keep toner cartridge away from light.
