Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on stable, level surface near power outlet.

  1. Remove packaging materials: Take out all tapes and protective covers.
  2. Install toner cartridge: Open front cover, insert cartridge until it clicks.
  3. Load paper: Adjust paper guides in tray, load up to 250 sheets.
  4. Connect power: Plug power cord into printer and wall outlet.
  5. Connect to computer: Use USB cable or connect to network via Ethernet.

WARNING! Do not touch the green drum surface of the toner cartridge. Keep printer away from heat sources and moisture.

First-Time Setup

Power on printer; follow setup wizard on computer.

  1. Install software: Insert CD or download drivers from Brother website.
  2. Configure network: Use control panel or BRAdmin software to set IP address.

WARNING! Do not touch scanner glass with fingers; use clean, smooth originals.

Scanning Features

Scan to Email, File, OCR, Network Folder.

  1. Place document face down on scanner glass.
  2. Press SCAN button on control panel.
  3. Select destination (Email, File, etc.) using arrows and OK.
  4. Adjust settings (resolution, format) if needed.
  5. Press Start to scan.

Supported formats: PDF, JPEG, TIFF, BMP. OCR requires additional software.

Maintenance & Supplies

Replace toner when indicator lights or message appears. Use genuine Brother TN-660 toner cartridge.

  1. Open front cover.
  2. Remove old cartridge, dispose properly.
  3. Unpack new cartridge, shake gently.
  4. Insert until it clicks, close cover.

Cleaning: Turn off and unplug. Wipe exterior with dry cloth. Clean scanner glass with soft, lint-free cloth.

CAUTION! Do not use alcohol or abrasive cleaners. Do not expose toner cartridge to light for extended periods.
