Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on a stable, level surface near a power outlet and computer/network.

  1. Install Toner Cartridge: Open front cover, remove packaging from toner, insert until it clicks.
  2. Load Paper: Adjust paper guides in tray, load up to 250 sheets of plain paper.
  3. Connect Power: Plug power cord into printer and wall outlet, then turn on power switch.
  4. Connect to Computer: Use USB cable for direct connection, or connect Ethernet cable for network.

WARNING! Avoid placing near heat sources or in humid environments. Keep ventilation openings clear.

First-Time Configuration

Power on printer; follow on-screen prompts on LCD.

  1. Install Drivers: Insert installation CD or download latest drivers from Brother website.
  2. Select Connection Type: Choose USB or Network during software installation.
  3. Network Setup: For Ethernet, assign IP address automatically via DHCP or manually.

  2. On control panel, navigate to Network > TCP/IP > DHCP to obtain IP automatically.
  3. Print Network Configuration Report to verify IP address.
  4. Install printer software on computers, selecting network printer during setup.

Tip: Use Brother's Web BRAdmin tool for advanced network management.

Printing & Copying

Supports standard paper, envelopes, labels.

  1. Printing: Select Brother printer in application, set preferences (duplex, quality), then print.
  2. Copying: Place original on scanner glass or in ADF, set copies/darkness/zoom on panel, press Copy.
  3. Duplex: Enable in driver or on panel for automatic two-sided output.
  4. Toner Save: Press Toner Save button or enable in driver for draft quality.

WARNING! Do not use damaged paper. Avoid paper with clips or staples.

Scanning Features

  1. Place document face down on glass or in ADF.
  2. Press Scan button or use ControlCenter software on computer.
  3. Select scan settings: resolution, color mode, file format (PDF, JPEG, etc.).
  4. Choose destination: Scan to email, file folder, OCR, network folder.

Note: Install Brother software for full scanning functionality.

Maintenance & Supplies

Replace toner when low (LED indicator). Clean exterior with dry cloth; clean scanner glass with soft, lint-free cloth.

Toner Replacement: Open front cover, remove old cartridge, unpack new one, insert firmly until click.

CAUTION! Use only Brother TN-730 toner cartridge. Do not refill or remanufacture.
