Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on a stable, level surface near a power outlet.

  1. Remove all packaging materials and tape from inside and outside the printer.
  2. Install toner cartridges: Open front cover, remove packing material, insert cartridges in correct slots (Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow).
  3. Load paper: Adjust paper guides in the input tray, load plain paper.
  4. Connect power cord to printer and plug into a grounded electrical outlet.
  5. Turn on the printer using the power switch.

WARNING! Do not touch the green drum surface of the toner cartridges. Keep printer away from heat sources and humidity.

First-Time Setup

Power on the printer; follow on-screen prompts on the LCD or computer.

  1. Install driver: Insert the supplied CD or download the latest driver from the Brother website.
  2. Connect to computer: Use USB cable for direct connection or configure network settings.
  3. Configure network (optional): Use the control panel to set up wireless or Ethernet connection.
  4. Align cartridges: The printer will automatically perform initial cartridge alignment after installation.
  5. Print a test page to verify installation.

CAUTION! Ensure the printer is on a stable surface and ventilation openings are not blocked.

Toner Replacement: Open front cover, remove old cartridge, unpack new cartridge, insert firmly until it clicks. Close the cover. The printer will calibrate.

Cleaning: Unplug printer. Wipe exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Clean paper feed rollers if paper jams occur frequently.
