Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on stable, level surface near power outlet.

  1. Install ink cartridges: Open front cover, insert cartridges until they click.
  2. Load paper: Adjust paper guides in tray, load up to 150 sheets.
  3. Connect power: Plug power cord into printer and wall outlet.
  4. Turn on printer: Press Power button.
  5. Install software: Insert CD or download from Brother website, follow on-screen instructions.

WARNING! Do not touch ink nozzles or cartridge contacts. Keep printer horizontal during setup.

Loading Paper & Ink

Proper loading ensures optimal performance.

  1. Paper: Use plain paper (75 g/m²). Fan sheets before loading. Adjust guides snugly.
  2. Ink: Use only Brother INKvestment Tank cartridges (LC-221 series). Remove protective tape before insertion.
  3. After installing ink, printer will initialize; this may take several minutes.

CAUTION! Do not refill or reuse cartridges. Store ink in original packaging until use.

Control Panel & Settings

Control Panel: Power, Home, Back, OK, Arrow keys, Number pad, Start, Stop/Exit.

Menu Navigation: Use Home button to access Print, Copy, Scan, Fax, Network, Settings.

Settings: Network (Wi-Fi setup), Paper (size/type), Print Quality (Draft/Normal/High), Ink Levels, Factory Reset. Defaults: Language (English), Paper Size (Letter), Quiet Mode (Off).

Connecting to Network

For wireless or wired network access.

  1. Wi-Fi: Use control panel (Menu > Network > Wireless Setup Wizard) or WPS button.
  2. Ethernet: Connect LAN cable to router and printer's Ethernet port.
  3. Verify connection: Print Network Configuration Report from menu.

Tip: Place printer within range of Wi-Fi router. Avoid obstacles like walls.

Printing & Copying

Print from computer, mobile device, or USB.

  1. Print: Select document, choose Brother MFC-T4500DW as printer, adjust settings as needed.
  2. Copy: Place original on scanner glass or in ADF, press Copy, select options (color, copies, size), press Start.
  3. Duplex: Enable in print driver or copy settings for two-sided output.
  4. Cancel job: Press Stop/Exit on control panel.

WARNING! Do not open covers during printing. Allow prints to dry before handling.

Scanning & Faxing

Scan to computer, email, USB, or cloud services.

  1. Scan: Place document, press Scan button or use Brother iPrint&Scan app.
  2. Fax: Load document, dial number using keypad, press Start. Use PC-Fax to send from computer.
  3. Program speed dials: Store frequently used numbers in memory.

Note: For scanning, ensure Brother software is installed on computer.

Maintenance & Cleaning

Unplug before cleaning. Use soft, dry cloth for exterior. Clean scanner glass with lint-free cloth and glass cleaner if needed.

Print Head Cleaning: Access via control panel (Menu > Maintenance > Print Head Cleaning) if print quality declines.

CAUTION! Do not use alcohol or abrasive cleaners. Never spray liquids directly onto printer.
